Principles to Enable Your Child to be
"Forever Different" Part 1 - By Sharon Bingham
One of your child's foremost goals in life is that he/she will be popular and be accepted by friends. Do you ever think back to your youth - was this your goal as well? How many of your elementary friends do you still hang out with? Are they significant in your life today? How about friends from high school or college? So what is it inside of us that pushes us to desire to be popular and accepted by our friends? Do we as adults still fight this battle?
My premise is that we do not know who we are!! We want to get our identity from those around us because no one has ever told us who we are.
WHAT YOU DO DOES NOT DETERMINE WHO YOU ARE!
WHO YOU ARE DETERMINES WHAT YOU DO!
God doesn't want just our sucesses - He just want us. We as Christian parents must begin to speak into our children's lives about who they are in Christ. You must remind your children (and yourself) daily who they are because they are being bombarded by the liberal media of what they are NOT because of things they do
not have, etc. You are literally in a battle for the minds of your children. Your children must become armed and dangerous with the Word of God. They must
see you as a parent walking in who you are. The more you reaffirm who you are in Christ the more your behavior will reflect your true identity.
